CNC machining is a way of machining mechanical parts using a specific machine, called a CNC. CNC machines are numerically controlled and carry out specific operations in large quantities and in predetermined, pre-programmed times.
These machines have an internal computer to which an input is sent, usually the machining time and the number of parts to produce. Once the input is sent, the machine schedules the operations itself and completes them according to preset methods and times.
CNC machines: what are the advantages?
The advantages of CNC machining are many: first, the operations are predetermined and tightly controlled, which necessarily reduces machining times. They are also perfect for large volumes of orders and products, especially when the resulting parts are small and/or complex. Finally, CNC machines are very easy to use and the inputs are essential, quick and intuitive.
One of the most common operations is CNC milling: CNC machines that can perform several operations at once, all on the same workpiece. Some types of CNC milling machine have several axes working simultaneously, enabling multiple operations such as drilling or turning. They work as true machining centres.
CNC machining: why choose it?
So why choose CNC machines for precision machining? To save time first of all, but also money and material. CNC machining works completely autonomously while guaranteeing a very high-quality final result.
