But what does “precision” really mean in our sector? And how do we guarantee such high standards, even when your projects require special processes such as electroplating, heat treatments and grinding? The answer lies in our network of certified suppliers, leaders in their fields, whose unique skills allow us to offer a complete, top-quality service.

Discovering aluminium: a versatile material for precision

Among the materials we machine, aluminium plays a leading role thanks to its exceptional properties. Lightweight, corrosion-resistant and with excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, aluminium is the ideal choice for a wide range of industrial applications. But have you ever wondered at what melting temperature aluminium transforms?

The melting temperature of pure aluminium is around 660 degrees Celsius (1220 degrees Fahrenheit). However, this temperature can vary slightly depending on the specific aluminium alloy. Aluminium alloys, created by combining aluminium with elements such as silicon, magnesium, copper or zinc, are designed to achieve specific mechanical, strength or machinability properties for different applications. As a result, their melting temperature may also vary slightly.

Understanding the melting temperature of aluminium is essential in precision manufacturing, particularly in pure aluminium die casting. This process, described below, exploits the fluidity of molten aluminium to create complex components with very tight dimensional tolerances.

Pure aluminium die casting processes

Pure aluminium die casting is a forming process in which molten aluminium is injected at high pressure into a metal mould. Once solidified, the component is removed, ready for any additional precision machining or surface treatment. The main types of this process can be distinguished by injection technology:

  • Hot-chamber die casting: the molten alloy is kept in a crucible built into the die-casting machine. An injection system, also immersed in the molten metal, pushes it into the mould. This technique is best suited to alloys with low melting temperatures, such as some zinc and magnesium alloys, but can also be used for some aluminium alloys.
  • Cold-chamber die casting: the molten aluminium alloy is poured into a separate injection chamber and then pushed into the mould by a piston. This method is preferred for alloys with higher melting temperatures, such as most aluminium alloys, as it reduces contact time between the molten metal and machine components, minimising wear.

Both pure aluminium die casting techniques offer significant advantages in production speed, the ability to produce complex shapes and high-quality surface finishes. The choice between hot and cold chamber depends mainly on the properties of the alloy and the specifications of the component.

Excellence in precision machining

Our expertise in precision machining goes beyond aluminium. We offer a wide range of processes, including:

  • Precision turning: cylindrical and conical components with extreme tolerances, perfect surfaces and accurate dimensions.
  • Precision milling: complex shapes and intricate details on many materials, including aluminium and its alloys.
  • Grinding: top-quality surface finishes and dimensional accuracy on components requiring micrometre tolerances.

Every stage of our precision machining processes is rigorously controlled to ensure each component meets the highest quality standards. Our certification is your guarantee of a flawless final product.

Special treatments: added value for your components

Precision mechanical components often require specific treatments to improve their properties or their resistance to wear and corrosion. Through our network of qualified suppliers we can offer:

  • Electroplating: to protect metal surfaces and give them specific aesthetic or functional properties (e.g. chrome plating, nickel plating, aluminium anodising).
  • Heat treatments: to change the mechanical properties of metals, such as hardness, strength and toughness.
  • Precision grinding: for surfaces with minimal roughness and extremely tight dimensional tolerances.

Choosing us means having a single partner able to manage the entire production cycle of your precision mechanical components, from design to finishing, guaranteeing quality, precision and on-time delivery.
