CNC milling: costs, methods and processes

Fresatura CNC

To shape metal into the required forms and dimensions, it must go through a process called milling. This machining process is usually carried out on CNC machining centres. Milling allows materials to take the desired shape without any special effort.

How does milling work?

The process removes chips from the material using rotating tools. Milling has two production stages: first roughing, which removes material fairly coarsely; then finishing, in which the material is brought to the required shape, smoothing out any defects left by roughing.

Milling is usually carried out on CNC machines, which automate processes and allow the number of parts to be entered into a computer. CNC machines have the great advantage of significantly speeding up machining, allowing companies to work fast without ever losing sight of quality.

How much does CNC milling cost?

The cost of CNC milling clearly varies and usually depends on how difficult the material is to machine, the time needed to machine the parts and the number of parts to produce. In general, however, it is a fairly fast process that significantly reduces production costs. It is therefore recommended for companies that need a fairly large number of parts, less so for those looking for more artisanal, small-scale work. Request a quote.
